JULY 2009
"ADAPTABILITY"
Utthan Pristhasana (Lizard Pose)
During the summer everyone seems a little more carefree, problems roll off your back more easily and you’re able to get unstuck from the grind of winter. There are many ways to do this, so be open to all of those options as you move with grace through the summer months. Part of that grace is having the ability to adapt to various situations. Being excited about the chance to explore a different side to your personality and appreciating lots of different experiences is similar to a lizard changing according to its habitat (see below to see why we made that correlation).
Lizard pose offers us a plethora of choices: hip opening, twisting, forward bending, core strengthening and back bending prep. Use the summer heat and the vast options of Lizard to make your practice more creative and exploratory this month.
*Special thanks to Yoga High student Angela who is adapting nicely to the back-bending, twisting variation of Lizard.
