Ani Wkshop

Less is More-Essentials of Breathing
taught by Ani Weinstein
Saturday, September 25,
2:30pm-4:30pm
$25 in advance/$30 day of

**This workshop is open to students of all levels**

The paradox of breathing is that taking a free, full breath is the result of relaxation, not effort. By doing less, you can achieve the fullest range within your breath and find greater ease in everything you do, from athletic movement to complete rest. In fact, the ability to breathe deeply and fully has tremendous benefits in combating insomnia and/or anxiety. In this workshop we will explore the essential characteristics of effortless breathing and apply those principles to a breath-centered yoga practice. This is also an opportunity to clarify your understanding of the breathing exercises (pranayama) that you may have encountered during yoga class. What does Ujjayi breathing really do? What’s the point of Kapalabhati? We will address these questions through experience and learning how your body works in the breathing process.

This workshop is open to all Level 2 or higher students**

No matter what the sport, the body is at its peak performance when balance is achieved between strength and power, flexibility and grace. In this workshop, specific asanas will be introduced that strengthen your core and help to stabilize, while others will focus on developing longer, leaner leg muscles resulting in a more fluid stride. Learn new breathing techniques that will increase both breath capacity and endurance. And become better informed about the different types of stretching that should be done during training, the day of an event, and for the recovery period. Come learn the tools to begin developing your body into a more efficient and agile vehicle, while keeping your breath and mind calm, steady and focused. This workshop is especially for those planning to run the NY Marathon in November or for avid runners of all kinds.

BEGINNER WORKSHOP

______________________________

THE NEXT BEGINNER WORKSHOP SERIES IS

Saturday October 23rd & Saturday October 30th
2:30 pm – 4:30 pm

BeginnerWSshot

We have changed the format of the Beginner Workshop Series to better serve our students and our community. It will now be two Saturdays instead of four.

We will spend two Saturdays providing you with a basic understanding of what a Yoga practice is. We will go over the major asanas (poses) that are taught in every Yoga class and we’ll break them down slowly so that you’re able to find what works for YOUR body.

This Beginner Series is not only for brand new beginners. It’s also a wonderful chance for those who have been practicing for a while to check in on their personal practice. If you’ve been wondering if your back foot is in the right place in Warrior One or if you’re confused about how you’re supposed to be breathing, this workshop will take the time to individually teach you. We’ll even answer all the “obvious” questions like why we Om before and after class. (and do you have to join in—the answer is no if you’re not comfortable).

This next Beginner Workshop Series will be Saturdays October 23rd & 30th from 2:30 – 4:30

Price: $50

The Beginner Series is taught by Mel with help from other Yoga High teachers.

**Pre-registration is required. To pre-register please click on the Schedule link above then click on Beginner Workshops and follow the directions to buy and reserve your spot in the Beginner Series.

Please take a moment to read our Cancellation Policy for all workshops:

Refunds or cancellations are available up to two weeks prior to date of workshop.  No refunds or credit given less than two weeks prior to workshop. If Yoga High cancels the workshop, a full credit or refund will be issued.

Thank you and Namaste
