Focus of the Month

Sahasrara Chakra (Crown Chakra)

Dwi Pada Rajakapotasana (Ankle to Knee/Double Pigeon)

Sahasrara, the Seventh Chakra, is the most subtle chakra, where you merge your individual consciousness with the Universal Consciousness and the thousand petaled lotus flower blooms. Each of us is like a drop in the ocean of the Universe. Through Yoga we re-enter that ocean of all-knowing, total compassion and complete unity.
Ankle to Knee Pose opens the hips and prepares us to sit in meditation. Really all of Yoga asana is a preparation for the more subtle activity of meditation. It is here in meditation where we are able to plug in and re-charge in the space between the thoughts, in the Universal Consciousness where we are all whole and all the same.
So this month use your practice to re-connect to your higher Self, and feel the support of the other ocean drops, your fellow Yogis, as we all work to be wise, compassionate and complete.

Special thanks to Yoga High student Tori who is beautifully demonstrating Dwi Pada Rajakapotasana (Ankle to Knee / Double Pigeon Pose)
